Pristine Pastures works diligently toward bringing Prime Chevon (goat meat – click to learn about the nutrition facts – found at Doveyandbear.com) and goat meat products into the marketplace. Pristine Pastures will help goat producers become sustainable, bring jobs to rural areas, and get producers and their farms adept as a high percentage of their meat products will be sold to restaurants and institutions. The Goat Meat Initiative (GMI) is a business model that was partially funded by a USDA grant. Any Producer that is interested in selling to Pristine Pastures or the Goat Meat Initiative should visit the Producer Inquiry Menu and questionnaire. We also welcome goat dairies to connect with us so that we can offer a consistent rate and market price for any excess bucks (male goats) after kidding.
Our partners, supporters, and producers help identify new markets, additional grocery stores, and restaurants while value-added products are being created for markets. We have chefs, skilled butchers, the right personnel, and infrastructure in place to get the job done. The basic goal of the Pristine Pastures Brand is to provide the healthiest local goat meat products to the marketplace for ethnic and mainstream consumers.
The Pristine Pastures Brand is very excited and proud to have farms in the Southeast that raise exceptional animals for us, in particular the Boer goat breed. Pristine Pasture specialty meats and products are proud to showcase our farmers in this section.
The Goat Meat Initiative in South Carolina calls on its members and other goat producers to become certified to sell their humanely raised goats under the Pristine Pasture label. The Goat Meat Initiative, along with the members of the Southern Goat Producers Association and the SC Dairy Goat Association, have become good partners for Pristine Pastures.
Windy Hill Plantation
Windy Hill Plantation, located in Pelzer, South Carolina, was the original farm to grow Boer Goats for the Pristine Pastures Brand. Judy and Billy Langley started raising full-blood Boer Goats in 1999. Through the years, they discovered a niche market for selling goat meat to many ethnic customers. Their mastery of the retail grocery and meat industry lead them to sell products online and at Farmer Markets. After their retirement from the retail world, they found it less complicated and fulfilling to grow pasture-raised specialty animals for Pristine Pastures. Judy has a Master Goat Certification and plays a major role in the local food movement.
Palmetto Moon Farm
Pristine Pastures is very proud to work with Palmetto Moon Farm in Summerton, South Carolina. Owner Kathy Carr is the farmstead entrepreneur in charge of the production of over 100 purebred Boer goats and Zebu cattle. Kathy is a vet tech and an ABGA Judge and is most helpful for connecting Pristine Pastures with Certified producers across the country that grow humanely and grow animals on lush pastures and browse.
Rolling Hills Farm
Terry Brock is an upcoming Goat Meat Producer. Terry is in sales with a national packaging company, but his weekend career is raising pasture-grown goats. Terry's farm is located in the rolling hills of Chesnee, South Carolina, and he takes pride in pasture rotation for healthy animals. When Pristine Pastures ramped up production, Terry was there to become a Certified Producer.
Shiloh Farm
Jean and Bill Campbell are owners of Shiloh Farm in Dacusville, South Carolina. Jean grew up on a large production farm that her father managed in Lemoore, California. Having lived in many areas of the US, from west to east, they found their farming roots in Shiloh. They acquired their farm, which is located in the rolling hills of upstate South Carolina. Jean is the livestock manager, while Bill manages their crop garden. Their bounty supports their food needs and freezer, while their goat sales support the Goat Meat Initiative. Jean is certified to sell goats to Pristine Pastures.
Possum Kingdom Kreamery & Mariah Farms
Possum Kingdom Kreamery is located in Belton, South Carolina. It is owned and managed by Tanya Bryson. She and her husband, Scott Clinton, raise dairy goats, Boer cross goats, and Drum horses. The Kreamery sells its excess male goats to Pristine Pastures. Bryson was raised on a farm and was educated in animal health, so naturally, she gravitated back to her roots. Her prosperous goat dairy does not need male goats for milk production, so Pristine Pastures is glad to buy them for their products.
